The first thing I did was try and find a place to stay so I got out my phone and started looking on Grindr (a gay location based app) and after a many conversations with some of the app users I had finally found a place to stay. I was nervous to meet this person, he was a student studying at The University of Manchester and he said I could stay for a few days. I had told him I was 18 and made up some lie about how I need a place to stay. After awkward introduction at the entrance of his student house he took me upstairs to his bedroom, I started to get nervous, What was happening? what am I doing? Is he going to kill me? When the bedroom door closed behind me he grabbed my hand and started to try and kiss me. Reality of what I was doing hit me so I just blurted out NO I’M 15! He freaked out a little and told me to leave, just as I was walking out of his bedroom door though he asked me What the hell are you playing at? I told him how I had left my home village and I was in Manchester and needing a place to stay. I managed to convince him to let me stay for a few nights. That night we was talking and he told me that I have to support myself for the few days and then came a strange conversation. He joked that I could just be an escort for a night. I cant remember everything, I got pretty drunk (my first time) and we had drunkenly decided that I would meet with guys for money. This is how it worked I would meet with someone off Grindr, after I had finished with the guy off Grindr I would tell them my age and basically sell them my silence. I would tell them that I would tell someone what they had done with an underage boy if they didnt pay me. At this point I’m not going into detail. The student I was staying with would take a 40% cut for my living expense. The first meet wasn’t exciting and I didn’t dare ask for money but after that the next few meets went really well. We decided at the start I would target other students, even though they were penniless we figured that they would be more worried and easier to target. Most of the time it was between £50 and £100 from the students. Me and the student I was staying with (okay lets call him Lucas) worked together targeting people. He would take me to clubs and I loved it. Lucas started to pimp me out a little to much though. Things started to get strange only a week into this when he decided to find someone on Grindr for me, he drove me to their place and I was greeted by an older guy probably in his 40s. He did a few strange things and recorded the whole thing the only difference was he paid me £1000 upfront. I would visit the guy in his 40s a few more times and he even recommended me to his friends. From these group of people alone I earned over £10,000 in a few weeks. One night Lucas and I was walking home from a club, no taxi would take us because I had been sick in the taxi pick up area. 4 guys on bikes that looked around my age at the time started to get abusive towards us, they punched Lucas repeatedly then hit me just once and left. Lucas was bloody and I was an emotional mess. I called the police in a panic, I wasn’t thinking. They arrived fairly fast and Lucas at this point seemed okay, just in pain. When the police took our information I lied about who I was, then I lied again before finally telling them the truth who I was. Things happened after that I cant talk about. No one ever knew what me and Lucas had done. I was returned home to the most upset parents, my mother had quit her job, and I was a registered missing person. I told my parents I was gay and that I ran away to Manchester because I felt alone. I told them I was looked after in Manchester by Lucas who tried to convince me to go home. Nothing seemed to make sense but my parents went along with it anyway. I only saw Lucas one more time after the attack and that was 2 years ago. He had found me on Facebook and reached out, we met up and he looked as good as he always did he seemed happy but he wasn’t. He apologised to me 100 times, told me that he loved me and I told him that we can keep in contact… he died a week later in a car crash.
