I can’t stress enough that contact with North Sentinel Island has happened frequently. As recently as the 90s the Indian Government sent anthropologists to visit them several times. We don’t know for sure why the Sentinelese people don’t try to discover the outside world or why they never leave their island, since they’ve never told anyone (and can’t easily, since they don’t speak any mutually intelligible language with outsiders, even other Andaman islanders). But it’s not hard to guess. Every contact they’ve had with the outside world has been blatantly hostile, usually deadly – often started by outsiders.
It’s also physically very hard to leave their island, which is completely surrounded by a shallow reef with no natural harbors. Their small, narrow outrigger canoes would have a hard time outside the reef.
Only six of them have ever been to South Andaman Island – an elderly couple and four children. They were forcibly captured by the British Navy and taken to South Andaman Island for study, like animals in a cage. They all soon became desperately sick, as the Sentinelese have no immunity to outside diseases. The elderly couple both died. The four sick children were dropped back on the beach of North Sentinel Island, where they may have unleashed an epidemic among their people.
